Produced as part of their 50th-anniversary celebrations, Lamy brings us the LX fountain pen. Pronounced ‘luxe,’ it bears a family resemblance to the much-loved AL-Star series. but this one enjoys a more refined finish. Lamy made this pen from the same lightweight, durable aluminum, anodized in rose gold, or silver. While it also has the same oversized, flexible pocket clip, the chrome matches the barrel color. Transparent black plastic grip area and ink-view window.

The nib also comes a little different from the Al-Star. The LX has a black PVD-coated plus a stylish pinstripe highlight around the slit.

The pen comes with a blue T10 Lamy ink cartridge. But It can also accept the Z28 converter, available separately, to use with bottled ink.

If you have an interest in the Silver or Rose Gold models, this by itself will justify the purchase of the LX. Those colors don’t appear in the rest of the product lineup, and the clip anodizing is more of a standout feature compared to the Palladium and Ruthenium models.
